The minister of youth and sports development Solomon Dalung says the huge financial resources the country has committed to football is to the detriment of other sports.

Speaking to AIT sports on the funding for sports in the country, Dalung said other sports have suffered compared to football and assured that the trend must stop for other sports to grow.

In a related development the president of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick after taking oath of office for his second tenure said financial independence will be a major focus for the next four years.

Pinnick was re-elected on Thursday in Katsina where he polled 34 votes to beat former NFF president Aminu Maigari and former NFF general secretary Taiwo Ogunjobi.
