INEC Declares Osun Governorship Election Inconclusive, To Hold Supplementary Election


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Osun state governorship election 'inconclusive ' as the margin between the two leading contenders in the poll was lower than the number of the invalid votes.

INEC returning officer, who is the vice chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof Joseph Adeola Fuwape announced this at the INEC state collation center in Oshogbo, at the end of collation of votes.
The electoral commission has fixed Thursday, September 27 for a supplementary election in seven polling units across four local government areas.
The LGAS include Ife north (one polling booth); Ife south (two polling units); Orolu (three polling units) and Oshogbo (one polling unit).
All the 48 political parties in Saturday’s election will take part in the election.
Only registered voters in the affected locations will take part in the re-run election
