The governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Con ingress (APC) in the 2019 elections, Babajide Sanwo-Olu may have settled for a fellow contestant in the primaries, Femi Hamzat as his running mate.
Naija News learnt that Hamzat made the announcement on his Facebook page today.
Recall that Hamzat indicated interest in the APC governorship primaries for Lagos state, but later withdrew his candidacy in support of Sanwo-Olu’s ambition.
Hamzat, a former Lagos Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, was one of the major contenders for the APC’s governorship ticket before he stepped down for Sanwo-Olu.
When he stepped down, he said it was borne out of the greater good for Lagos than the benefit of an individual.
“In our collective resolve to take Lagos to greater heights, I offer myself to serve and join hands with the Lagos APC governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu as running mate by filling the INEC nomination form. The progress and development of Lagos is our collective vision and with your entire support and electoral mandates come 2019, the dividends of democracy will be delivered to all lagosians. -KOH

Sanwo-Olu went on to defeat incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, in the party’s primary election and will battle Jimi Agbaje of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other candidates at next year’s polls.
